Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS the last chapter...

Plot outline

part 1:Rufus Scrimgeour addresses the wizarding media stating that the Ministry of Magic will remain strong as Lord Voldemort takes over the wizarding world. Hermione erases her parents' memories, Ron watches the sunset from his backyard, and the Dursleys move to a safer location leaving Harry behind.
Severus Snape arrives at Malfoy Manor to inform Voldemort and his Death Eaters when Harry will be moved. Voldemort takes Lucius Malfoy's wand since his own cannot kill Harry and because he wants to demonstrate his willingness to take power from his own closest followers if he is in any doubt about their absolute loyalty. The Order of the Phoenix arrive at Privet Drive and plan to escort Harry to safety using Polyjuice Potion invested with Harry's hair to transform multiple others into decoy Harry doppelgangers. During their flight on brooms and Sirius's old motorbike they are ambushed, resulting in the deaths of Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig and the loss of one of George Weasley's ears. Voldemort confronts Harry in a brief duel whilst in flight, but Harry's wand destroys Voldemort's borrowed wand; seemingly of its own accord. That night at the Burrow, Harry has a dream in which he sees Mr. Ollivander being tormented by Voldemort, who claims that the wand-maker had lied to him that a wand other than his own would succeed in killing Harry.
Scrimgeour arrives at The Burrow and distributes items from Albus Dumbledore's will to Ron, Hermione and Harry. Hermione receives a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard; Ron, Dumbledore's Deluminator; whilst Harry gets the Golden Snitch from his first Quidditch match. It is revealed that Harry was also willed to recieve the Sword of Godric Gryffindor but as Scrimgeour explains, this magical object was not Dumbledore's property to give.
The wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour is disrupted by Death Eaters, who have infiltrated the Ministry and are using its authority to persecute Muggle-born witches and wizards. The trio disapparate to London and stop at a cafe where they fight two Death Eaters who have tracked them by unknown means. They eventually find sanctuary at No. 12 Grimmauld Place. There they discover that the "R.A.B." from the false Horcrux locket is Regulus Arcturus Black, Sirius Black's brother. From Kreacher, they learn that Mundungus Fletcher has stolen the real locket. Kreacher and Dobby apprehend Fletcher, who reveals that the locket is in the possession of Dolores Umbridge. Again, under under the disguise of Polyjuice Potion, the trio infiltrate the Ministry, retrieve the locket, and escape, hiding in various dramatic and lonely locations across rural Britain.
Unable to destroy the Horcrux, they take turns wearing it in order to dilute its negative psychological effects. Whilst Ron wears the locket, he is overcome with the suspicion that Harry does not know how to find or destroy the horcruxes and as such is leading them on a fool's errand. He also suspects that Harry and Hermione are forming a relationship and abandons them. Harry sees a vision of Voldemort interrogating Gregorovitch, a renowned wand-maker, who made Viktor Krum's wand.
Harry and Hermione visit Godric's Hollow to visit Lily and James Potter's graves and former house, where they also hope for clues. Shortly after arrival they are approached by a shuffling old woman whom they believe to be Bathilda Bagshot, the historian who may hold information that can help them interpret the incomplete and cryptic information from Harry's visions and instructions left by Albus Dumbledore; such as about the foreign wandmaker and the Deathly Hallows. However, Harry is attacked and bitten by Nagini, Voldemort's snake, which emerges from Bathilda's animated corpse after he is lured to the second floor of Bathilda's house during a conversation in Parseltongue, leaving Hermione downstairs. After some delay Hermione realises that Bathilda is not there and probably dead; and arrives upstairs just in time to rescue Harry, retrieve his wand and disapparate to the Forest of Dean just before Voldemort arrives to destroy Harry. However, as they also realise, Hermione has accidentally broken Harry's fallen wand when casting a curse at the snake. Hermione's treat's Harry's snakebite but the loss of his wand severely undermines his mood and self confidence. Further, Hermione identifies the person seen in Harry's vision as Grindelwald, who stole the wand which Voldemort seeks. This then leads to further implications about Voldemort's activity and strategy.
One cold snowy night, whilst Hermione sleeps and Harry sits on guard holding Hermione's wand, Harry sees a doe Patronus and follows it to a frozen pond where he finds the sword beneath the ice. Harry attempts to retrieve the sword, but Slytherin's locket, which he is still wearing, reacts to the presence of the sword (which it senses is able to destroy it) by tightening the chain around Harry's throat whilst he is in icy water and caught under the icy surface. Miraculously, Harry is pulled out of the water and regains consciousness, finding Ron holding the sword and the locket in front of him. Ron is told by Harry he should destroy the locket, and despite the persuasive efforts of the locket, (such as visions of Ron's greatest fears such as giant spiders and visions of Harry and Hermione kissing) Ron manages to destroy the Horcrux with Godric's Sword.
The trio then visit Xenophilius Lovegood to learn about a symbol seen several times on their journey. They learn that the symbol represents the Deathly Hallows; the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility. It is then not long until Death Eaters arrive, when Lovegood betrays them for the safe return of his daughter. After escaping into the woods from a Death Eater attack on the Lovegood house, they encounter a group of Snatchers.
After a chase through the woods, Harry envisions Grindelwald telling Voldemort that the Elder Wand lies with Dumbledore. The trio are captured and taken to Malfoy Manor where Bellatrix Lestrange imprisons Harry and Ron in the wine cellar in which they discover Luna Lovegood, Ollivander, and Griphook, the goblin who works at Gringotts. Bellatrix tortures Hermione for information (by burning the word Mudblood onto her arm) about how they found the sword, which was supposedly in Bellatrix's vault at Gringotts. Dobby helps them to escape to Bill and Fleur's cottage but is killed by Bellatrix in the process. Meanwhile, Voldemort finally obtains the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb.
