Plot outline

Frank is a hair fetishist who escapes on a train after stealing his girlfriend's hair, only to become a victim of psychiatry.

Description

We are a group of final year students from Westminster Film School, based in London. Our film school is renowned in UK and around the world, with students having won numerous awards. These include the Student Academy Award (2012).

It's a bold aim, but we would not settle on any less. This is our major project and we want it to make fantastic! It's a challenging script, which deals with delicate matters in an intriguing environment. We plan building an art deco bedroom, a 1950's train set, design costumes in film noir style, purchase wigs for the characters...Because this film is about hair!

It is the story of Frank, a hair fetishist suffering from a childhood trauma. One night, he cuts his girlfriend's hair in her sleep and escapes with it on a train. But things are about to get even more mad: during the night journey, he meets Robin, a woman with extravagantly long hair. She is also the leader of a psychiatric cult that travels across country to heal fetishists of all sorts. Frank stops being the architect of his own destiny. He is drugged, tortured, accused of murder, mocked, all in a nightmarish account of a surreal journey. By the end, lobotomy appears on the horizon as an option - the cult would do everything to eradicate fetishes, a metaphor for society's reluctance to outcasts.

The project is important for us because it has a strong message: a lesson about manipulation and about how harmful it is to believe that unconventional/strange is automatically dangerous. Our approach to the film is playing with expectations and making audience our accomplice whilst witnessing Frank's torment.

But we need you in order to realise our vision and transform the script and the themes we love so much into a coherent narrative piece, with enthralling magic realist visuals!
