The next generation of Godzilla will begin on May 16th, 2014, when Legendary's new film titled 'GODZILLA' stomps into theaters. This Godzilla film will closely resemble the original 1954 Gojira by being dark and serious. The goal of this film by Gareth Edwards (Director) was to insinuate what would happen if Godzilla really were to live on our planet in our lifetime.

This film will be very character driven, focusing heavily on the characters who are caught in the path of Godzilla's destruction.

We will also be introduced to new kinds of Monsters which Godzilla will battle throughout the film.

With the last American attempt at remaking Godzilla not sitting well with most fans of the franchise, license holder and Godzilla creator, TOHO worked very closely with Legendary Pictures to ensure this new Godzilla film did the franchise and its fans, justice.

With the first trailer dropping on December 10th, 2013, it quickly gained millions of views and praise from the eager fan base. It would seem, this will be the Godzilla film fans have been waiting 10 years for. A true Godzilla movie, done to the level of today's top blockbusters, with top of the line visual effects and a solid plot - this Godzilla movie could stand toe-to-toe with the original which it's based on.

Godzilla (2014) is also expected to spawn at least two more sequels, making a new continuous trilogy while Legendary and TOHO are in agreement. However, this relies heavily on the success of Godzilla (2014). If this Godzilla proves to be the film TOHO was expecting, it is possible we could see an expansion into some more of Godzilla's universe, including the exploration of 'Monster Island'!
